WACO, TX (July 8, 2024) -- When Crestview Elementary students and staff return for the 2024-2025 school year, they will be welcomed by a new principal but not a new administrator. Waco ISD has selected Crestview Assistant Principal Nancy Alvarado to lead the campus as the new principal, said Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon.
“It’s significant that Mrs. Alvarado already knows this campus – the students, the parents, the staff, and the community,” Kincannon said. “As the school’s assistant principal, she has proven that she’s up to the task. That will make for a seamless transition for our students and staff.”
In addition to her experience as a campus administrator at Crestview the last two years, Alvarado has 18 years of teaching experience at multiple campuses. In her 10 years in Waco ISD, Alvarado has also had various leadership experiences. Additionally, she is a certified bilingual teacher and worked as a master reading teacher.
Alvarado welcomes the opportunity to fully lead the campus, building upon the systems and supports already in place.
“I am passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for every student,” Alvarado said. “I look forward to working with families, community partners, and staff to ensure that Crestview Elementary continues to inspire students to learn, grow, and succeed.”
Alvarado is a graduate of Austin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master’s of Art Degree in Teaching with a Principal Certification.
